The Director of FP&A will lead Backlight’s Financial Planning & Analysis function, driving financial insight, performance management, and strategic decision-making across the business. This role owns the company’s financial models, planning processes, and forecasting cadence, and partners closely with the executive team in a PE-backed environment.
YOU WILL
Lead Backlight’s end-to-end FP&A function, including financial modeling, forecasting, reporting, and strategic analysis.
Own and evolve financial operating models supporting annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecasts.
Lead monthly and quarterly performance analysis across revenue, bookings, costs, EBITDA, and cash flow.
Oversee executive, board, and investor reporting, delivering clear insights across ARR/MRR, retention, and profitability.
Own revenue and retention modeling, including churn, expansion, GRR, NRR, cohorts, and unit economics.
Partner closely with the executive team and functional leaders to support strategic initiatives, growth investments, and prioritization.
Provide financial leadership on strategic projects including M&A, pricing initiatives, and market expansion.
Drive continuous improvement of FP&A processes, systems, and automation to improve scalability and accuracy.
WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK
8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A or Strategic Finance, including people leadership.
Strong SaaS and recurring revenue experience, with deep understanding of retention metrics.
Expert financial modeling and analytical skills; advanced Excel required.
Proven experience leading planning, forecasting, and performance management processes.
Executive-level communication skills, including board and investor exposure.
Ability to operate independently and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-have:
Experience in a PE-backed or investor-driven company.
Hands-on experience with tools such as NetSuite, Datarails, Looker, or similar.
M&A or post-acquisition integration experience.
