Data Engineer

YOUR MISSION AT BACKLIGHT

Backlight is a global media technology company dedicated to improving the entire video content lifecycle—from creation to monetization. Our suite of SaaS solutions empowers creative teams at every stage of production, supporting everything from scripting and production collaboration to OTT streaming and monetization.

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that support our data, analytics, and reporting needs. You will collaborate closely with analysts and business stakeholders to ensure timely, reliable data delivery and high-performing data systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong programming skills, hands-on experience with cloud platforms, and a solid understanding of data architecture principles.

What you'll do:

  • Design and implement efficient, automated data pipelines for ETL processes

  • Build and maintain data warehousing solutions on Google Cloud Platform

  • Create and optimize dimensional data models for analytics and reporting within Google Dataform

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements 

  • Implement data quality controls and monitoring systems

  • Maintain documentation of data systems and processes

  • Support machine learning model deployment and data science initiatives


WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK

  • 2-4 years of professional experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, OR

  • 4-6 years of professional experience in data engineering

  • Strong familiarity with dimensional modeling using tools like dbt and Dataform

  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts

  • Experience with ETL tools and frameworks such as Alteryx, Fivetran, Segment, and others

Work Arrangement 
Work remotely from anywhere within India while working in UK shift.
