As a Senior Frontend Developer at Backlight, you’ll be a key driver in our product teams, working closely with backend engineers, designers, and product managers. You’ll take ownership of complex features and components, ensuring our interfaces are fast, reliable, and delightful to use. You’ll also be a part of shaping the frontend architecture, mentor more junior engineers, and help our team continuously improve.

Your mission is to deliver solutions that make a real impact for our users while helping the team grow and pushing the boundaries of what our products can do.

You will:

• Build, maintain, and evolve advanced frontend applications using React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.

• Design responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features end to end.

• Lead code reviews, promote best practices, and help shape frontend architecture.

• Mentor more junior developers and contribute to a strong, collaborative engineering culture.

WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK

We primarily work with React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript, but we value engineers who are curious and can quickly learn new tools and frameworks. What matters most is your personality, your experience, your ability to drive frontend solutions forward, and your genuine passion for building exceptional user experiences.

You have:

• 5+ years of experience building scalable and reliable web applications.
  Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, and frontend architecture.

• Experience consuming REST APIs and working with Git and GitHub workflows.

• A strong focus on clean, maintainable, and testable code.

• Strong communication skills — you collaborate openly and value teamwork.

• Good experience working with CSS frameworks and modern styling approaches.

• Experience working in agile teams and mentoring other engineers.
  
  Bonus points:

• Experience with SaaS product development.

• Experience with frontend testing and performance optimization.

• Previous experience as a scrum master or similar role.
